I was all about to make a post at lunchtime, about the current state of the tube system post 7/7, and then some bastards had to start up with the big bangs again. But it looks like this was just designed to cause some disruption, and I'm guessing that by tomorrow the tube will be back to what currently passes for normal, and since my post was to be about what exactly is "normal" on the tube right now, I've decided to go ahead and to it. So here it is. What I thought I'd do is show people what the tube has been like since the bombs on 7/7, because since then some pretty large sections of the tube have been shut down, which makes it a tad difficult to get about. And what better way to show everyone than the world-famous London tube map? So I downloaded a copy of the current map from the TfL website and set to in Paint. The tube network as it was before the bombings. The tube network as it has been since the bombings. If you've lived with that map all your life, it looks very weird to see it so different. Oh, and in case you're wondering, there are seven changes to the map: Piccadilly line Uxbridge branch only running as a shuttle from Acton Town; Piccadilly line Uxbridge branch only running as far as Rayners Lane; Piccadilly line not running between Hyde Park Corner and Arnos Grove; District line Edgeware Road branch only running as far as High Street Kensington; Hammersmith & City line only running as far as Paddington; Metropolitan line not running beyond Moorgate; and no Circle line.
