Yes, I really did crash my hire car.

But other than that, Ireland was, as always, wonderful. I don't know if it's the number of times I've visited, or the harmonising effect of our increasingly inter-connected world, or perhaps just the intrinsic warmth of the Irish people, but I always feel at home in Ireland. There are differences, yes, wonderful and entrancing differences. But to this Norse-Germanic mongrel from London it fits like an old and comfortable shoe. Familiar people. Familiar faces. And very familiar accents.

Polish, obviously.
