Much, much cleaner than my digicam. Of the few things that come to mind:

Alter of Death: You weren't frickin' kidding, were you?

The Shelves: I am simply in awe. Written media rocks.

The Battlemat: I do believe that's the same one my former GM had (right down to the same vellum-texture appearance). That would be the same one that had the problem with the grid coming off when it was cleaned. Hope I'm wrong.

That is quite a skull collection you have there. Just a thought though.. I think they're as prophylactic as the figurines your friends bought you... in general. A gamer girl might not care. Or a goth girl!

I am SO jealous of your shelves. Wow.

In the second picture of the Altar Of Death, on the top row, second to the left: is that coppery skull a pencil sharpener? It looks an awful lot like mine.

Yes it is. :)

Rating the Contraceptives

Erm ... how do I say this?

Of course, we need an actual woman to do this accurately, but I'd rate the wall of Egotism as a much more reliable contraceptive than the figures and map.

"I'd rate the wall of Egotism"

Um... That's a capital "W" on the "Wall of Egotism", by the way. :)

But I agree that it's a tossup between the Altar of Death, the miniatures, the battlemap, the Forgotten Realms maps on the wall and the Wall of Egotism as to which is the most reliable contraceptive.

Re: Rating the Contraceptives

I don't agree it's a tossup. I think the Wall of Egotism is much more effective.

The others just show geeky hobbies and macabre taste, which some women dismiss and others might even appreciate. (I have met a couple of female vegan roleplayers.) The Wall of Egotism shows, well, Egotism.

Asked my sister for a female perspective... she says the Wall of Egotism wouldn't put women off. You're a writer -- they're things you've written. And it's not like it's easy to actually read what was in the articles from a distance.

Hands down, the Altar is the clincher. I think he reaction was "Oh My God" and that she'd be worried about "being sacrificed".

On the other hand maybe you're looking for a girl that likes skulls, or is a kink?!

:-)

The Shelves

For balance: I envy the shelves.

I love your altar of death.
It is a reminder of death like maybe a picture of the grim reaper on a record cover.

Its a reminder of what happens to us in in a positive light it makes me realise to enjoy life whilst I am on this planet and come to terms with the fact that one day I will eventually pass away hopefully peacefully.

Its good because alot of people turn a blind eye to death or don't know how to deal with it and it is something that is with us until the day we do die.

It is also cool because there are different types of skulls there probably from different species and it is a reminder of where we have all come from.

Its a good collection and one worth displaying.

Your wall of egotism is brilliant, a great morale booster and reminder of how talented you are.

Of course my favourite is the skull in the hallway.

Avril.

Gosh

That is nice. I shall have to allow the photo of your bookshelf to inspire me.

Step 1 - Get house with large wall
Step 2 - Add bookshelf and books
Step 3 - Proft?

You forgot to photo the carpet...

That would indeed be the biggest contraceptive of the lot.
