One of the blogs I read is MJ Rose's Buzz, Balls & Hype. The blog has a number of guest columnists, one of whom is Gregory Huffstutter, who writes a column on the blog called "The Ad Man Answers". A month or two ago, he offered to do a number of "make-over sessions" on the promotions and advertising of readers books. (I think it was five). To be involved, you just had to comment on his post giving details of your book. I commented. So did a lot of people. Since then he's been doing them, one book every other week. And this morning, Game Night was the one he selected! I'm really chuffed. Aside from the fact that it's really cool to have my book highlighted, even a first skim-through has revealed that his post is packed with what looks like very good advice - the most obvious of which is that while the book's website looks okay and is informative, it doesn't match the style of the book. The book is quirky and funny, and the site is neither of those. If it's true that people in a book shop judge a book by its cover, then I guess that in the 21st century, people buying online will judge your book by its website. So one website makeover coming up.
