Hi all, Just a very quick update, because I'm trying to type this on a US keyboard on a free hotel PC with a bloke waiting to use it (he's being very polite, but he's still waiting). We didn't win the ENnie, which wasn't surprising. Frankly, if we had, I'd have asked for a recount, fearing some kind of Welsh Culture Minister moment. I'll admit to a smidgen of disappointment, but in the end, it was cool to be nominated. Sales are not bad. Not as much as I would like, but then the world isn't built like that. But we are getting some very good feedback, including many people who aren't buying the book because they already have it, and have dropped by to say hi and tell me how much they liked it. Which is very cool. More soon, with pictures. Tags: ennies, gencon

From the voting page of the ENnies website: Due to an accidental omission the voting had to be reset at 7:48 AM Tuesday. If you voted before this time you need to vote again. Bugger. I'm not sure which 7:48 AM that was, given that there are 24 of them around the world, each day, as it turns, but I'm guessing it was around the middle of the day, our (BST) time. And certainly after the email I sent last night to all the people on my Critical Miss / Jonny Nexus subscriber list letting them know that Game Night had been nominated for an ENnie and the voting booth was now open. It wasn't much of a wad, but it appears I managed to blow it too soon anyway! Oh well. Doubt it will make any difference in the grand scheme of things, and most of the people on the list wouldn't have even read their email by then anyway. (And since I'm not expecting anyone to vote for me who hasn't read the book, we are actually talking about quite a small number of people). If anyone's interested, the omission was that Goodman Games had been left out of the best publisher nominee list, despite having been both nominated and seconded. So I guess it's the fair thing to do to restart things. But anyway, the upshot is that if you voted yesterday or early today, you need to go and do it again. Tags: ennies

After a afternoon of frequent refreshes and growing impatience, I can now announce the news I've been waiting two days to announce. Game Night, by Magnum Opus Press, has been nominated for a Gen Con EN World RPG Award (a.k.a. an "ENnie") in the category of "Best Regalia", which is awarded for the best product used to complement role playing game play. http://www.ennieawards.com/08/2008noms-4.htmlThe other nominees are: - The 100 Best Hobby Games, by Green Ronin Publishing
- The Art of Eve, by CCP/White Wolf
- Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress: A Girls Guide to Dungeons & Dragons, by Wizards of the Coast
- Dungeons & Dragons Inn-Fighting, by Wizards of the Coast
So, Wizards of the Coast, White Wolf, and Green Ronin. No competition there then. Still, it could have been worse. Last year's winner, the incredibly popular webzine Order of the Stick, isn't on the list, which I think might just have increased my chances of winning from "absolutely none, no really, absolutely none" to merely "absolutely none".
