I'm subscribed to Transport for London's text message travel alert system. This is a rather clever setup that gives you personalised warnings about problems with the Underground. You tell it which stations you travel from and to in the morning and in the evening, and when you want to be alerted, and it will tell you if anything is wrong. So in my case, I might get a text at 7am to tell me that there are serious delays on the Piccadilly Line. Or, I might get a text at 5pm to tell me that Russell Square station is closed because the lifts aren't working. Or I might get woken up at 7am on Christmas morning by a text informing me that there are no trains running on Christmas Day. Well duh. Thanks for that, guys. Tags: london underground
