Travel Chaos In London
Heavy (if you define heavy as "wow, that must be nearly four or five centimeters) show-fall over the night and through the morning (exactly as predicted earlier in the week) has reduced London to a state of chaos and reports are already coming in of tragic accidents.

Meanwhile, this was the London Underground status board that greeted my other half and I at Hammersmith Station (yes, we wouldn't normally go via Hammersmith, but we kind of having to go "off-piste"):

I wonder how Chicago's transport system is coping with their current temperatures of eight degrees below zero Fahrenheit with a minus fourteen windchill?

I suspect better than ours.

This Is Your Christmas Wakeup Call
I'm subscribed to Transport for London's text message travel alert system. This is a rather clever setup that gives you personalised warnings about problems with the Underground. You tell it which stations you travel from and to in the morning and in the evening, and when you want to be alerted, and it will tell you if anything is wrong.

So in my case, I might get a text at 7am to tell me that there are serious delays on the Piccadilly Line. Or, I might get a text at 5pm to tell me that Russell Square station is closed because the lifts aren't working.

Or I might get woken up at 7am on Christmas morning by a text informing me that there are no trains running on Christmas Day.

Well duh. Thanks for that, guys.

About Jonny
