Conpulsion Here We Come!
Just a quick entry to say that me and luciddestiny will be going to Conpulsion; our flights are now arranged (travelling up on the Friday afternoon and heading home Monday evening), and boxninja has generously offered us accomodation (staying alongside NIF mytholder).

As usual - for the benefit of anyone who is thinking of heading up from London and fancies company on the flight, or who hates me enough to want to shoot down my plane with some kind of portable, shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile - here are our flight details:

From: Heathrow (LHR), London United Kingdom
Departs: 14:35 from Terminal 1
To: Edinburgh (EDI), Edinburgh United Kingdom
Arrives: 16:00
Flight no: BD58
Operating Carrier: bmi

From: Edinburgh (EDI), Edinburgh United Kingdom
Departs: 20:40
To: Heathrow (LHR), London United Kingdom
Arrives: 21:55 at Terminal 1
Flight no: BD65
Operating Carrier: bmi

We were planning on going up on the Thursday evening to give us Friday to explore the town, until we (well luciddestiny, who was doing the ordering) found out that flights that day are stupidly expensive. But Friday afternoon still means we can make whatever is happening on Friday evening - and flying out Monday evening means we have Monday to explore the town. This will actually be my first convention in the British Isles in three years (barring afternoon shopping "runs" to GenCon UK), but we've been told that Conpulsion is intentionally "Irish" in the way that it is run - and hopefully the Continuity RPGA have called off their death squads in the meantime.

Good hear, nice to see that Warren is coming up for the festivities as well.

Intentionaly Irish? Hmmm.... Intentionally Scottish with many bars. Plus as time_for_tea ran it for many yers it has an aura of "well... that's nice".

Or something. Will be good to meet you.

Intentionaly Irish?

Well what I meant was that it's my understanding (which could well be complete bollocks) that it was designed to follow the Irish gaming con format (such as Gaelcon), with shorter and less gaming sessions, with evening events such as a pub quiz and a charity auction.

Well that's what my Irish friends have told me, anyhow! :)

Mr Wilson did indeed agree that for years there had been a concerted effort to steal the good bits from the Irish cons.

Then they got me to help run the auction, fools.

Actually, we had a policy of stealing the good bits from as many cons as we could. It's just that the Irish cons had more good bits. The Celebrity Pictionary we stole from Drakcon in Aberdeen.

*This will actually be my first convention in the British Isles in three years*

So, I didn't meet you at Dragonmeet last year then? (confused) :p
jonnynexus From: jonnynexus Date: March 9th, 2005 08:47 pm (UTC) (Link)
No, that was me. :)

I forgot about Dragonmeet. What I was meaning to say that this is the first multi-day, "go away for a holiday" convention I've gone to in the British Isles for three years (as opposed to one day one's in London).

No, that was the *other* Jonny Nexus.

Mongoose has been using cloning for a while to make sure that their writers meet the deadlines.

Unfortunately they recently tried to apply it to the art department, which produced the disasterous Shadizar map.

That was actually the alternate universe Jonny Nexus, easily spotted by his floppy fringe and primate-like back hair :)

Completely unlike the genuine article with his number 4 crop and hairless back.

Noted on Black Industries web site that they are attending Conpulsion demonstrating WFRP2. With Wallis out of the way, you have the opportunity to go up and ask politely for them to return your fucking barge.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
I want to see that!
