2001 - 2007
Belling, affectionately known as "Baby" Belling, was a portable two-ring cooker with small integral oven purchased in 2001 by its owner Jonny Nexus as a temporary stop-gap for an envisaged short period, before his kitchen was modernised and a full permanent cooker purchased.
As is often the case, events conspired to ensure that the "short period" would actually last in excess of six years, but during this period Belling proved a reliable and trusty workhorse under what were often trying conditions.
Of late though, Belling had been showing signs of age. An attempt to cook a full load of two pans and two oven dishes during the hosting of a dinner party resulted in the destruction of its fuse and the tripping of the main fuse. The fuse was replaced, and Belling continued on in its role, but a slow decline had begun, resulting in another fuse failure on Monday night, and a catastrophic plug-sparking death on Wednesday night following a second emergency fuse transplant.
Belling is survived by its younger siblings Microwave Oven, Toaster, and Rice Cooker.
